Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer shifts with Green City Market typically last two to three hours and take place outdoors — rain or shine! — at our farmers' markets. Green City Market is seeking volunteers to:

• Assist in the Info Booth, helping answer shoppers' questions, selling merchandise, and overseeing GCM's single-use waste sorting stations to help shoppers properly compost and recycle

• Manage market entrances and count the number of customers that enter and exit the market area; help enforce our safe shopper guidelines throughout the market

• Assist with our kids’ programming table, Club Sprouts, where we offer fun, seasonal, educational activities and lessons teaching kids about sustainable food in Chicago 

• Assist at Chef Parking — a complimentary parking area for the many Chicago chefs who shop at GCM for fresh, high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients — directing chefs to their designated parking area and providing parking passes

• Welcome curbside pick-up customers and bring orders to customers' cars
